Tal Golesworthy was a keynote speaker at the Research Strategy for Patient Oriented Research (SPOR) Summit, which took place in Ottawa, Canada between 25 and 27 October. The conference had the theme of Health Innovation: Working Together on Shared Health Priorities and brought together SPOR stakeholders, including patients, federal, provincial and territorial ministries, partners, researchers and clinicians. Tal Golesworthy is keynote speaker at BRAINCOMS

Tal Golesworthy was a keynote speaker at BRAINCOMS, the Brazilian International Congress of Medical Students, which took place at the Escola Paulista de Medicina – Universidade Federal de São Paulo, Sao Paolo, Brazil between 20 and 22 October. The event gives delegates the opportunity to learn from internationally renowned keynote speakers, practise their skills in hands-on workshops and build up networks with other medical students from around the world. In an editorial published today in the European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, Leslie Hamilton – former president of the Society for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery in Great Britain and Ireland and regional director for professional affairs at the Royal College of Surgeons of England – discusses the question of when an emerging technology should enter the therapeutic arena. Commenting specifically on the Personalised External Aortic Root Support (PEARS) he argues that, following a precedent set in a recent Supreme Court case, surgeons have a responsibility to provide information on all appropriate medical procedures to allow the patient to make an informed decision. He suggests that patients should be made aware of the PEARS option. You can read the article here.

Tal Golesworthy speaks at AEICBAS Biomedical Congress in Porto

 On 4 March 2016, Tal Golesworthy spoke at the AEICBAS Biomedical Congress at the Abel Salazar Institute of Sciences in Oporto, Portugal. The Congress invites speakers from all over the world to share their research with the Institute’s students. The subject of Tal’s presentation was PEARS: Engineering Innovation in Cardiac Surgery.

Tal is panel speaker at fifth IN4MED conference in Coimbra, Portugal

On 19 February, Tal was part of the Cardiovascular Panel at the fifth IN4Med conference, which was held at the Congress Center of Coimbra University Hospitals in Portugal. IN4MED is an annual conference for the students of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Coimbra on the most recent medical advances.
